Years ago I was at a CW reenactment where a cannon was firing rounds at plastic 55 gallon drums of water.
The nailed everyone at about 120 yards.

Call the editor of the Camp Chase Gazette and get the name of a Civil War Artillery Group near you and pay them to come to your event. They will have the addresses of those that have anything from a James 6 pounder, Ordnance Rifle, 12 Pound Napoleon, or even a little 12 pound mountain howitzer. If you wish to buy one they will have the locations of the cannon makers also.

I am looking for someone with access to a full size Civil War Cannon, who would be able and willing to bring it to a gathering of old, dried up Artillerymen in the Evansville Area in June. Would prefer a field gun in the 10 lbs class, but if you have something different let me know. You familiar with the Henry Knox Society? Barney [J. Paul Barnett] from Barney's Cannons passed away in 2010, but despite the distance, would have been a likely bet- he loved to show of the Big Iron to kids, and was a frequent contributor to renditions of the 1812 Overture. And, since I believe in backup plans, I'll try to track down some of his old crew. watch this space or FReepmail me.
