Former Pennsylvania senator and presidential candidate Rick Santorum criticized his Republican Party Thursday, telling a conservative audience that GOP leaders do not "accurately reflect who we are."
Speaking at the Faith & Freedom Coalitions "Road to Majority" conference in Washington, Santorum said Republicans should stop talking to CEOs and "talk to the folks who are worried about the next paycheck," Politico reports.

Allegedly Santorum stated:
"One after another, they talked about the business they had built. But not a single, not a single, factory worker went out there," he said. "Not a single janitor, waitress or person who worked in that company! We didn't care about them. You know what? They built that company, too! And we should have had them on that stage."
"When all you do is talk to people who are owners, talk to folks who are Type A's who want to succeed economically, we're talking about a very small group of people," Santorum said. "No wonder they don't think we care about them. No wonder they don't think we understand them.
Little Ricky is right on this. Still think he’s a punk though.
He’s right in the sense that republicans don’t reach out to the blue collar people. He ran well here in Michigan because he did reach out to the working man.
In 08 Romney whipped McCain by something like 9 points. In 2012 Romney ended in a tie with Santorum.
Lets not forget that Regan won over the union people not by promising to give them things but by talking without fear on social issues and taxes at the street level and he did it with a clear pro American bent.
Let's build a list of those GOP leaders we trust. I'll start:
Ted Cruz TX
Jim Bridenstine OK
Jim Jordan OH
His Little Brattiness did not make any points with me in the debates.
Being more of a ‘single issue’ candidate, and I do NOT refer to “anybody but Obama”, really turned me off.
I'll add Louie Gohmert of Texas to that list. He's a solid Christian Conservative as well as fearless (in evidence yesterday), former military and an Aggie.
You mean we aren’t 24/7 bootlickers who dream of a positive mention in the Wash Post and willingly sit in the Dem/Media dunking tank every week?
I don’t know the Oklahoman there, but there is a new member from MO just elected who is supposed to be really good. You are right though the list is embarrassingly short and shall remain so with the people we have in Republican primaries.
I haven’t heard anything out of Steve Stockman of TX this term; maybe he is trying to stay low-key so he can win again in 2014. Certainly, put Louie Gohmert on the list.
