The one with Goodman is better, although they cut out the scene were he saves the dog like in the Bendix one.
I remember seeing Ruth in a movie as himself...was that the Bendix one or am I thinking of another movie?
In “Pride of the Yankees,” starring Gary Cooper as Lou Gehrig, Babe Ruth played himself in a marvelous cameo.
I believe that was it! Thank you.
Saw that movie. Must be almost 50 years ago now. Still remember the scene where he’s visiting the sick kid in the hospital and says he’s going to hit an HR just for him.
And of course he does, as the boy listens to the game on the radio in his hospital room.
Bendix was a Yankee batboy when Babe was playing.
Maybe a little more that 50 years ago Ben.:-)
The Babe Ruth Story is a 1948 baseball film biography of Babe Ruth, the famed New York Yankees slugger. It stars William Bendix as Babe Ruth.
Saw it on TV.
It was a 10 cent matinee for me, in 48.
That was pride of the yankees, and cooper played Gehrig.
