The victory was when the succession laws were altered. Personally I’m glad they were. There is no practical reason for preferring males over females any more, and can you imagine what the screams would be if the laws hadnt been changed and the child is a girl?
It would have gone on just as before. She would be in line after her father and uncle, until a brother came along. Liberals would complain, but half of them want to abolish the monarchy altogether. If they’re going to have a monarchy, they should do it right, which means following primogeniture.

Yes there is a reason - actually many reasons - for preferring males in succession. I say this as a woman.
