While we are still waiting on all the details to come in, the Red Sox are close to acquiring right-hander Jake Peavy from the Chicago White Sox. According to reports, Jose Iglesias (pitcured) will be sent to Detroit, and outfielder Avisail Garcia is going from Detroit to Chicago.

Alex Speier of WEEI.com is reporting that 19-year-old Lowell infielder Cleuluis Rondon is one of three lower-level prospects who will be sent from Boston to Chicago to finalize the deal. We will have more information when this deal becomes final.

UPDATE (12:02 AM): The Red Sox have announced the trade, including the new details that right-handers J.B. Wendelken and Frank Montas, along with Rondon, will head to Chicago as part of the deal. Detroit Triple-A right-hander Brayan Villarreal, who is on Detroit's 40-man roster, will come to Boston as well.

Looks like Peralta will be getting the suspension over the PED “scandal” so Iglesias is the sensible choice.

Rondon, SS, 19, going to CHI. Not much of a prospect

Wendelken, RHP, age 20, to CHI. 13th round draft choice.

Montas, RHP, age 20, to CHI. Late-inning reliever potential.

Its a bullshit scandal. Give a million dollars to a doctor/geneticist for testimony and then the administrators and union get together to negotiate who takes a hit.

If it were really about PEDs they would simply ban anyone caught using them for life.

More f-tard trades by the Sox. They deserve to lose for another 90 years.

I think you may be right; this trade looks like a typical Red Sox boner to me...

They're thinking they've shored up a hurting pitching staff and with Iglesias fading offensively, Xander Bogaerts can be moved back to short stop and make a big difference offensively. He's hitting .302 and .423 with men in scoring position for July.

“He’s hitting .302 and .423 with men in scoring position for July.”

The history of baseball is full of one-month wonders (and one-month slumps, for that matter), and Iglesias plays an excellent short-stop.

Let’s hope the Sox are right; they have a good chance at making the playoffs this year, provided they don’t go into their customary end-of-summer slump.

I kinda agree with you. Iglesias looks like a once-in-a-generation talent. Was lookin’ forward to seeing him at SS for next 15 years in Boston.

"The Sox traded Iglesias?"

I'm gonna' miss him - great glove - fun to watch, but can't hit a lick.
They have a major league-ready shortstop that's a hitting machine at Pawtucket, and more in the pipe.
Peavey is on contract for next year, too - good club house guy and former Cy Young bull dog of a mound-presence.

more ChiSox-Cubbie news!

“With Jeter going on the DL, the Yankees recalled infielder Dave Adams from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. They also designated infielder Brent Lillibridge for assignment, and Rodriguez was activated from the disabled list. Outfielder Thomas Neal was claimed off waivers by the Cubs.”

Sillybridge is waived again ... Neal is 25 years old. A prospect.

Jeter Jeter pumpkin eater, had a fiancee but he couldn’t keep her.

W Sox ten game losing streak snapped! Thanks A-Rod!!

Poor Sillybridge, cut to make room for Hem-Roid’s possibly brief stay! I don’t feel too bad for him though, he’ll make 750 K this year. Thanks baseball union (strongest union in the country if not the world)!! He deserves every penny!
