FULL TITLE: Pictured: The moment officer punched disturbed 14-year-old in the face at Florida mental hospital 'where patients are tied to cots and pumped with sedative dubbed 'booty juice'
A newly released footage from a surveillance camera inside a Florida mental institution for teens captured a police officer punching a 14-year-old girl in the face.
The incident took place at the Citrus Center for Adolescent Treatment Services - a 28-bed locked facility in Pembroke Pines that houses girls and boys suffering from emotional problems, substance abuse and psychological disorders.
Broward County Chief Assistant Public Defender Gordon Weekes Jr. saw the surveillance video from the April incident when he was assigned to represent the 14-year-old.
The teen involved in the altercation with police has been charged with resisting arrest with violence, disorderly conduct, and criminal mischief. However, Weekes insists that the officer used excessive force when he hit her, while his colleague dosed the girl with pepper spray.
And according to Weekes, the violent encounter in the hallway of the Pembroke Pines facility is just the tip of the iceberg.
According to his investigation into the mental institution, the results of which were outlined in a letter sent to the Department of Children and Families this week, the young patients housed in the hospital are being mistreated on a regular basis.

"Purple Drank" -- now available in handy syringes!
That’s what happens when there are no dogs to shot.
Sounds like something Michael Jackson.... Oh skip it.
nervous hospital? Who are you - Carl Childers?
Me neither.
Someone tell me why people in a nervous hospital would be arrested for the behavior that put them there in the first place?
Because we gotta arrest somebody to make our quota? Because she wouldn't "Respect mah Authorita!"? Because, just because?
I know in california since the cops cleaned up the bloods and the crypts they have nothing else to do but write tickets for any little hair thats up their ass that day.
I don’t object to the use of force to subdue a crazy person -— sometimes that is the only way to do it, as I understand some situations. Not sure a punch in the face is allowable, unless it’s life or death for the person being attacked. Since this was a controlled situation, I would say NO, NOT ALLOWED.
On the other hand, I don’t understand pressing charges. How is moving a mentally unstable child from a treatment center to a juvenile crime punishment center a good idea? Or do the cops know that the child will just be placed in longer term treatment? This part doesn’t make sense to me at all.
This story bothers me. I have two sons. One an AF pilot, the other suffers from Schizoaffective disorder. Not fun.
In the video it appears that the girl is walking compliantly down the hall when a cop comes up beside her grabs her arm and tries to pull it around behind her.
Did they clean them up or ship them to Chicago?
You stole my line.
