Nurse who inspired King novel 'Misery' could be freed

Genene Jones was sentenced to 99 years for the murder of a 15-month-old girl. The young child's mother is trying to stop the convicted nurse's early release.

The Texas mother of a baby girl killed by a nurse dubbed "the angel of death" is appealing for the families of other child victims to come forward in a bid to prevent the convicted murderer from being set free early.

"I just don’t want her to get out. Because it’s wrong," Petti McClellan told ABC News.

"I can’t imagine my home state allowing a serial killer to walk out of prison. So I’m angry."

McClellan lost her 15-month-old daughter Chelsea after a visit to the doctor’s office in 1982.

Genene Jones, the nurse who attended to Chelsea during the pediatric checkup, claimed she needed to update the little girl’s shots. Instead, Jones administered three fatal doses of a powerful sedative, causing the child to go limp and stop breathing.

exactly. It is the fallacy of granting ‘good time’ reductions. Heck they are in a strictly supervised situation. It takes nothing to get ‘good time’ reductions. People should have to serve the total time for the crimes they commit. Particularly since MOST people will never come in contact with the law for a felony let alone multiple felony murders

1) Execution. Problem solved.

2) I had no idea “Misery” was based on anything.

I think the nurse is a Liberal icon. She helped pioneer 4th trimester abortions.

There is something seriously wrong with a nation that will let the serial murderer of so many young children out of prison. Ever.

We all know that these impulses do not “go away”. They get worse over time. She just doesn’t have any children to kill in prison.

Even if she was, by some miracle, “cured” - she should never walk free.

Give her a job at the Governor’s mansion

The Governor who enacted this law is dead. About 300 prisoners were affected by this law during the time it was in force. Remember the Texas Legislature only meets every two years.

When the Mandatory Release Law that will free Genene Jones was enacted, the Texas Legislature consisted of 28 Democratic senators, and 3 Republcans.

The Texas House consisted of 131 Democrats, and 19 Republicans.

The Bill was introduced by Bill Meier, (D), Euless, and sponsored by D.R. "Tom" Uher, (D), Bay City.

The Governor who signed the Law was Dolph Briscoe, a Democrat.

Well, a job at the TX DNC is clearly the best place for this person who has paid her debt to society.

Could Texas AG Greg Abbott do anything to stop the serial killer from getting parole? If so, why has he not done anything about it?

Maybe she and Wendy Davis can open some kind of business.
