This can’t be such a low number. Gays are the biggest minority in the nation and 2nd only to blacks in the dem party.
They are over represented everywhere, which can lead to impressions that they are more numerous than they really are. Also, I think it is safevto assume that 2% is the number of men who are exclusively homosexual. There are probably a good 10% of men who dabble on both sides.
