What’s that all about?

It's a black thang.

I wish I could “stand my ground” with only my fists. Terroristic threats at 2 feet = self defense.

Sounds like a line from John Wayne in one of his movies...

Reading the comments here was interesting. A couple of months ago, there was a story about a black guy who punched a white guy in New York. The story was a lot like this one — the white guy was drunk, fell into the black guy’s table. The black guy tries to help the white guy stand up, but the white guy claims the black guy is trying to start a fight. White guy started trash-talking the guy’s wife, called them the n-word. THe black guy punches the white guy, he falls over and hits his head.

Most commenters attacked the black guy and argued that you couldn’t just beat up a guy for speech. Said it was one of those “justice for Trayvon” stories, etc.

But here, all the comments support the fighter hitting the guy for verbal abuse, seeming to accept the idea that sometimes, words can be met with physical response. An argument I tried to make in the previous discussion, when I was then called names.

Relative WORKS FOR the State of Washington.

His job (and has been for 30 years) is to REGISTER all pugilists who fight in the state. Most states have this. If you can’t get a license, you can’t fight professionally in the state.

Its not the “hands” per se, but the fighter himself (now herself too). But his office has investigated fighters who have gotten into deep doo doo, and one of the charges is assault with a weapon.

Snopes sometimes gets it wrong.
