Why work when welfare pays more?
American Legislator ^ | 9-26-13 | Fara Klein

The Cato Institute recently released an updated version of a decades-old study analyzing welfare benefits on a state-by-state basis. The study, The Work vs. Welfare Trade-Off, found that the total value of welfare benefits continues to exceed the income that most recipients would earn from an entry-level job in many states. Since the original version of the Cato study was published in 1995, the total value of welfare benefits increased in 32 states and the District of Columbia, while 18 states saw a decline in the value of benefits.

One of the most significant findings in the study is the revelation that welfare currently pays more than a minimum-wage job in 35 states, and pays more than $15 per hour in 13 more states.

Give welfare for 6 months.
Strip it down to under what an entry worker would make.
Stop giving free baby sitting services. Unless they get a job related to the education, then back charge them for the non-used education.
Drug test them.
Require workfare.

The CATO institute was founded to promote free trade.

So of course they are going to call unemployed Americans deadbeats. Because they want to distract from the problems that lowering the import tariffs have caused.

Why work when welfare pays more?

to live as a free man and not as a slave having to kiss the ring of the “patron” in order to feed your family and live your life.

The people that think they’re “getting theirs” or somehow gaming the system are selling their souls and those of their families. Good riddance.

I look at them as no different than a cripple or any pathetic animal with only the hope that the caretaker or zoo keeper feed and water them daily. bwahahahahahaha.

I say to the democrat faithful and those on the race plantations, “watch your cable sports instead of time with your family, spend your lives chasing a bigger tv/car/vacation/bling , drink your beer/smoke your weed/crack and shoot your heroin to anesthetize yourself and wake up in 30-40 years in a bed with a diaper and nobody caring if you’ve cr#pped on yourself or not cause the system and the government is your family.”

When you work it costs money.

For women, hair dressers, nice clothes, shoes , nylons, a baby sitter maybe

For men work boots and work clothes maybe the proper tools for the work.

Then for both the gasoline to get back and forth , car payments, Lunch while working, other expenses.

Tie that to Welfare making more money sitting home and a person would be stupid to work.

**Why work when welfare pays more?**

Why?

Because it is one of two realms of life that provides true satisfaction. God is a creator God, and we are made in His image.

Making, producing, creating fulfills a sense of worthfulness deep within us.

I know of a lot of folks getting all these benefits plus unreported income from all cash businesses or off the bookks work.

These folks are rolling in the money.

To top it off welfare folks have nothing better to do than stay home and do the nasty repopulating themselves faster than those working stiffs.

Well for starters the title was "Why work when welfare pays more?"

What’s more the story doesn’t back up the title.

The title implies that people are earning more off of welfare than they would earn working.

But then you read the article and it says they can earn more than minimum wage or more than a secretary. Not that they can earn more than they were earning while working. Only that certain low level jobs exist that pay less than unemployment.

Most states you have to have earned decent wages to get a high unemployment amount. Unemployment will almost never pay more than you were making while working.

I remember a time when taking any kind of charity was considered taboo unless someone had had a tragedy in their lives. I also remember a time when welfare was for people who really needed it: the elderly, the sick, handicapped, etc. We live in a different world now, and we know who created that world, i.e, Democrats.

The title implies that people are earning more off of welfare than they would earn working.....Yes but how many are sucking off UC, getting SNAP, WIC and working under the table or any other myriad of schemes. I have OFTEN posted on here that we identified 45 people on UC, SSI, welfare and whatever scam programs in our small town of probably less than 22,000 people. That is not counting the drug dealers. Most of the under the table jobs were paying these people between 20-30,000 dollars, if they should show you a W-2 (if they could).
