Yeah I guess those 1950s deals are kinda modern, LOL.

The 427 was just in the category of “it oughta be against the law!”

And with Obama, it soon will be.

My dream car: 1967 Corvette Convertible, black on black on black with the 435 bhp/427 engine. IMO, it’s the apex of the Corvette.

EXACTLY

I've got a friend who had an L-88 in a '68 Camaro, M-22 rock crusher 12 bolt posi. It idled like it was firing on 6 out of 8 cylinders, but hit the gas and hold on. I never figured out if the smile on my face was from the fun or the g-forces.

That pic is what I have in mind when I think 1967 Corvette Convertible - thanks for posting.

‘68 Camaro: Smile was from the fun; what a treat that car must have been!

Dream:

Summer day
Sun shining
Top down
Cruising down the highway
Beach Boys cranked up.

Something about an old Corvette makes me think of the Beach Boys.

On the Superbird, I don’t think you can fully appreciate how impractical this vehicle is until you’ve seen one in person. I distinctly remember seeing one for sale as NEW on the lot of a Dodge dealership in Chicago as late as sometime in 1972. It was definitely not for everybody. In fact, it was basically only for NASCAR drivers.

I’ve got some idea. I owned two 68 Chargers at one time. About a foot shorter but just as fat. Cornered like an asteroid, in other words they required a large amount of gravitational pull and several thousand miles.

As a kid my dream car was the 1953 Cadi Eldorado, the original Rado. In those days, a Cadillac was the cheapest car to own, once you bought the first one. Trade it every year for a new one of the same model plus $500 and you always had a new car.

"Although technically a subseries of the Cadillac Series 62 and based on the regular Series 62 convertible, sharing its engine, it was nearly twice as expensive at US$7,750. This car was 220.8 inches (5,610 mm) long and 80.1 inches (2,030 mm) wide. Standard features included windshield washers, a signal seeking radio, power windows, and a heater.[5] The Eldorado comprised only .5% of Cadillac's sales in 1953. Its curb weight was 5,000lbs".

You must be able to read my mind, even down to the Beach Boys playing - that’s what I picture playing!

Since this is a dream, there’s one item that’s missing: Favorite ‘60’s chickie to have in said car while cruising.

I’d have to go with Raquel Welsh by a hair over Ann Margret.

When I was 10, this was the dream car I lusted after. I really, really hoped that Dad would be chosen as one of the 50 test-drivers. Alas, it wasn't to be.

I had to make do with the family ride -- '63 Fairlane Squire -- which was actually pretty cool. Had a thing called a console with bucket seats. Pretty wild for a station wagon of the time.

Point of order:

The article specifies “This crowd-sourced list of dream cars consists of models frequently viewed at Cars.com but rarely drawing buyer inquiries.” Then it contradicts itself by saying “Cars.com editors name their dream cars here.”

It would appear to actually be the list from cars.com views, not from the editors, as only new models appear. Even Chicago editors would surely list the Mercedes SL “Gull Wing” and the Jaguar XKE as top dream cars.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! We must be some type of Corsican brothers or something, even though I think I prefer 1960's Ann just a miniscule hair over Raquel.

On the other hand, a 60's "chickie" closer to my own age, who I just recently saw a recent video of, would hands down win today. Erin Murphy-Tabatha Bewitched

My 15 year old daughter LOVED this thread. She thinks it is incredibly unfair that she has to grow up in a world of government-regulated, bland, look-alike cars. Thanks for making it!
