I've got a AF JROTC Det that wants to send Christmas cards and letters to members of the Armed Forces. I've looked online but haven't had much luck (could be operator error).
Would someone kindly provide a link?
The organization, Operation Write Home, is the one I’m most familiar with and have used over the years.
You can send cards, letters, or packages to a variety of deployed military personnel using this site. We sent a lot of Thanksgiving and Christmas cards one year - between babies, I guess - and we got some very nice responses from the troops. I saved a picture of three young Air Force ladies who were practicing hairstyles on each other in the hope of being hairdressers in civilian life, eventually.
They also have requests for supplies like trail mix, baby wipes, magazines, etc. Many go through service Chaplains’ departments.
Agree with Tax-chick. I have gotten and used many addresses there, and received many replies.
I love reading the stories and viewing the pics the troops post there.
It’s also Cub Scouts popcorn time. If you see Cub Scouts or have one at the door, you can make a contribution in any amount to send popcorn to troops overseas. My daughter got some when her Coast Guard cutter was in port with Navy ships in Asia. (Coast Guard is Homeland Security, not Department of Defense, so they can get left out of things.)
That’s not the same as sending a personal letter, of course. You might also contact your local VFW or American Legion post. They are often in contact with people deployed from your local area.
Thanks to you both!
Call your state National Guard and find if they have any units deployed. Best thing is to receive some love from your own home state.
