I saw a Frederick’s of Hollywood catalog for the first time several years ago and couldn’t make sense of the sky-high heels in sizes 12 to 18 EEEE WIDE. I wear a 7 narrow.

That is, until the guys in my office clued me in to the lively business of trannies.

Oy Vey.

My first introduction to trannies was on Bourbon St. in New Orleans, when I was in about the 6th grade. My Aunt Mary Ann used to take her 7 kids, and my younger sister and me to Mardi Gras every year. We usually went on the Sunday before Mardi Gras, but even then, the bars were always open. One time I saw some really tall, heavily made up women, and I asked my Aunt what was up with those tall women. She just remarked, they’re NOT girls, and I had to do a double take!
