Whats-a-matta you? Why not one of there: Italian map case.

Comes with authentic Italian quirks.

My daughter bought me a SENA ZipBook Case for IPad which is a nice black leather case. You can search those words on Amazon. It also has a stand on the back similar to a picture frame stand.

Go to Amazon and look for a distressed leather or canvas messenger bag. OK, yes, a "man purse" so to speak except there's nothing feminine about a messenger bag. If Indiana Jones and Jack Bauer can carry one, so can I. Nobody's going to mistake it for a girly purse.

It's quite practical these days for those of us who carry around a tablet or netbook, iPhone, charger, adaptors, etc. in this modern world we now live in.

Fro a truly manly approach, try this one, too: Bulldog Cases COLT Tactical Notebook Case with Tri-Double MOLLE Magazine Pouches

Keeps those all-important reloads handy, too. And - it's tacti-cool.

Before he passed on, my grandfather was in a care facility. He was weak and not very capable of carrying on a conversation. He specifically didn’t want a lot of chat. What he wanted was company. Just someone in the room with him while he napped after lunch. So, we had a routine, I’d go through the dairy queen drive thru and get him some small treat, usually an ice cream cone, that he couldn’t get at the nursing home. He’d eat it, we’d visit and then he’d drop off for his afternoon nap. I read a book while he slept. When he woke up a couple of hours later, we’d visit for a few more minutes, I’d help him get up and get ready for dinner and he’d go to the cafeteria with his friends and I’d go home.

He just wanted someone’s physical presence in the room. He even fussed at me for reading. Told me I needed to crochet like my grandmother did. Apparently that was their afternoon routine after they retired. He’d nap and she’d crochet.

I've bought a range of Pelican cases for expensive camera equipment. They are rugged, have never failed me and are pretty cheap.

In high school, boys carried books at their sides like they were a plank of lumber, girls carried books on their hips like they were a baby.

They are so common now that no one will really even notice. I’ve got my iPad in a Griffen Survivor case and it goes everywhere with me. It is no worse for wear after a year. It’s fallen off the kitchen counter, been slammed by my trunk lid, and accidentally left on a patio table in the rain.

Quit using the language you used, that filth belongs at DU, not here.

Get him one of these.

He'll have a place for his pad, his phone, snacks, a newpaper and whatever else he might want. Guarnteed he'll never be mistake for a metro.

That's an excellent idea! Thanks. In theory I could make him one, as I sew, but I'm unmotivated to create one without a pattern.

I think the words you are searching for are, “Yeah, you’re right, it was a dickish comment for me to make. I’m sorry.”

I take my Ipad just about everywhere I go and I use a Maratac Tac-Pad case. It has a molle system, which I really like for its versatility. There is nothing metrosexual about it, particularly when it is attached to a pistol case. I use that case for everything, whether in church (I take notes on my iPad), in meetings with clients, or in the boat going to my duck blind.

At this link there is a short video demonstration of the Tac-Pad case.

You can get handsome black or black and silver cases for pad computers at Amazon for about $15.00. I have one for my Ipad. It HOLDS the pad in one compartment and various accessories in the other and is about 11 x 8 x 2 when fully loaded. Slings across the body instead of over one shoulder, a lot more masculine that way. Really cool thing is smaller compartment can be used to carry my S and W .357.

I carry mine in an OD canvas bag.....simple and perfect for transport. It’s the same magic bag Jack Bauer used in “24” to carry guns, phones, rifles, and thermonuclear weapons.......

Get a Maxpedition. Most can be used for multiple things. That bag can carry a tablet and be used as a pistol carrier. You could even get a bigger bag that has an EDC pouch for off-body carry.
