It's over: Jeb Bush will be the GOP nominee in 2016
The Week ^ | February 5 2014 | Damon Linker

And why is that? Because it's beginning to dawn on me that Jeb Bush is probably going to be the Republican Party's nominee for president in 2016.

Consider: With the ongoing implosion of Chris Christie's political career, the GOP establishment has lost its best hope for a candidate who could stop a libertarian-populist insurgency during the primaries. Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Scott Walker — the list of viable fire-breathers is longer (and less dominated by incompetents, crazies, and one-note sideshow acts) than establishment types would like.

Good.
I’ll be able to stay home and watch old Reagan speeches.
No need to go out in the cold and vote when all the choices are for the welfare state, spending, and amnesty.

330 million people, and the best we can come up with is a Bush or a Clinton?

If that’s true, then it’s over for the US.

At least once a week there’s an “it’s over - so & so is the nominee for 16.”

What a waste. The sky is falling every week.

So the big question is whether Hilary can get over 65%.

Not a chance it will be Bush. He was a good governor, I actually like some of his positions (although like any Bush, he’s probably not strong enough to get them done) and I’d vote for him.

But it’s going to be Romney, the closest candidate ideologically we had to Obama (big government all the way) and another loser retread. That’s what the GOP always goes for - a proven loser. It’s his turn, after all, and we don’t want him to feel bad. Plus Romney has enough money to buy it.

It’s not going to be any of the more conservative candidates and in fact this time I don’t think they’ll even throw in a symbolic conservative as VP.

another 11 to 20 MILLION NEW VOTERS,

With Amnesty there will be a lot more than that. Amnesty is essentially offering citizenship to everyone who can get across the southern border. With Amnesty will also come a general relaxing, perhaps disappearance, of what border controls we already have. Republicans are pushing Amnesty because they are Democrats:Official Opposition Division. They do what the parent company orders to be done.

I think if Mitt ran again, he would win. It would be like people were given the chance to correct their error of 2012.

Personally, Cruz/Walker would be good. A strong conservative in Cruz and a proven record in Walker.

Reverse it. A POTUS needs executive experience.

If true it will make it alot easier for me to write in Sarah Palin on my ballot. I will be voting for all other Republicans on the ballot though.

In the mid-2000s, there was a cover that 2008 would be Guliani / Clinton, hands down.
Clinton did run seriously against Obama, but Guliani wasn’t.

Jeb Bush or his son may be who the Democrats want to run, but neither is likely, no matter how many people want to keep their Bush for President bumper stickers relevant.
Democrats just want to keep their old talking points relevant.

I suspect if Jeb runs he will come out the campaign gate talking the conservative talk, then if he secures the nomination he will begin walk back the talk.

We need new blood, young strong, bold, fearless conservative, at this point for me that would be Ted Cruz 2016.

However if we do not make significant conservative inroads in 2014, 2016 won’t matter. 2014 is the most important political challenge to secure the future. IMO!
