I remember the lefty sheriff, but not the alter.
Still infuriates me, the way the media both deliberatey directed the fire and fanned the flames of the Tucson mass-murder right onto Palin, basically dropping the bloody bodies right onto her doorstep. Within hours, the news-media was running a continuous loop of video footage... a clip of Giffords, pictures of spilled blood on the parking lot, the photo of the little girl killed, and footage of Sarah Palin walking up to a podium at a tea-party event. Over and over again. For days.
The deliberate juxtaposition of that imagery was like something out of a Soviet-era propaganda film or one of those Nazi films that would vilify Jews by interspersing footage of Jewish stores with that of rats scurrying around in an alley. But the media proved it knew no bounds of decency nor ethics, when their goal was to destroy Palin’s popularity. Just like they would trumpet each and every ludicrous misreprentation or anonymous lie that would cross the transom, just to tear her down. Palin and her own family and children reputedly got over 100,000 death threats due to the media’s incendiary agenda. And other than one or two exceptions, the GOP was quiet as lambs, not uttering a word of protest. Still hardly have words for how much I came to lose total faith and respect in the Party I’d supported my whole life, due to that.
Always viewed the media as quite biased and untrustworthy. But after the Tucson mass-murder incident, I became convinced of their sheer evil.
