Anyway, am I alone here or am I the only one who thinks it dumb that the Olympics are held in a different venue every time.
All that infrastructure getting built - billions of dollars expended and years of work - all for about 13 days of actual "games" (with two days of marching around a stadium with flags). All so some obscure hamlet (Lake Placid anybody?) or large city can get a brief shining moment in the limelight.
I was in Los Angeles during the 1984 Olympics and that was a joy. There was traffic everywhere! Restaurants were jammed! People were walking around all herky-jerky. It was a crazy, crazy time. I don't even remember who won.

I was thinking the same. I would propose a few PERMANENT ROTATING VENUES.
