Ah ska... The music of my misspent youth!
The second wave bands introduced me to the originals like Desmond Dekker, Prince Buster (Madness couldn’t have been Madness without covering Prince Buster), The Skatalites, the Maytals... I’ve still got it all and more on vinyl.
Grand memories. I took my wife to see General Public on one of our first dates- and 30ish years later we saw Dave Wakeling when the English Beat came back through Minneapolis a few months ago.
Best Dave Wakeling story, was when he got a call from Pete Townshend and David Gilmour, because they were struggling to figure out the tuning for “Save It For Later.”
