I wonder if those touch screen systems will demand $15 an hour?
So much for telling people that they can always get a job flippin’ burgers...
So much for putting loose change into the box to benefit the Ronald McDonald House.
One more step to being able to track and isolate consumers. Mark of the beast type stuff.
These are already in use at all the Sheetz stores in the Maryland and Virginia area. I much prefer to talk to a person.
prediction: This will fail because too many of McDonalds’ customers are too STOOOOOPID to use them.
Probably not odd at all. I believe European workers make more money, have more rights and benefits and are therefore more expensive than workers in Asia, the Americas, the Middle East, Africa or Oceania.
Why not? That is all the cashiers do today. I tell them I want a #1 and they touch a #1 on the touch screen....Now that the marxists are pushing for “a living wage” we might as well just fire thire buns!
why is a cashier even needed? just cue in what you want and any special orders and go get in line with your number/receipt in hand.
Might get better service and can only blame yourself for improper order OR the employees in the back who put it together. Until we get to the food replicators like on Star Trek...
That’s because they have higher minimum wages there.
And the dirty screen dispenses every disease on your hands possible before you eat.
No cash no sale.
The machines will actually deliver orders accurately and promptly, calculate and return correct change, and all without a surly attitude of entitlement.
Still, give it three minutes before the first thugs bash in the machines.
The Sheets chain has touch screen order entry pads that allow the customer to make a very detailed sandwich and drink order.
Mc donalds and other such already deal heavily in plastic payments. The customer order entry process is but a small step compred to automating the payments
I hope they just have pictures, cuz it wouldn’t be fair to make people have to read.
I’ve thought for years fast food restaurants should install kiosks with queues. That way customers who know what they want don’t have to wait behind customers who don’t.
Coffee shops could have touch screens at the booths. Customers could order right away and wouldn’t have to flag down a waitress for coffee refills.
God bless technology.
I’m so tired of my orders being wrong at restaurants I’d welcome this change. Part of the problem is employees who don’t speak English! And yes, being born here doesn’t seem to matter how well you communicate with customers.
I’m equally disturbed with, “Go head wit yowr orda” as I am with my “No cheese” request being read back to me as “No queso”. No one is forcing me to buy a hamburger, but they sure are not inspiring me to be a customer either.
LOL. Go ahead and make the minimum wage $50 per hour. The automation of these near thoughtless tasks has been happening for years. Take EZPass for tolls. It makes for faster trips and eliminates COST(Toll Takers and all the benefits they require). An insane entry level wage will accelerate the process in the fast food industry. Unemployment levels for the unskilled workerer will soar.
It is laughable to think that in 1991 I stepped on an elevator in a Boston hotel and an old man in the proverbial monkey suit sat on a stool to press the button for the floor I wanted.
The deli at Fry’s Market (Kroger) has a kiosk which allows you to order your deli meats and go about your shopping. Just stop by 15 minutes later and it’s ready for you. Beats standing in line waiting your turn to tell the guy you want three pounds of Black Forest Ham, thin sliced.
