Tor is a Fedgov product; it’s use is target for US operatives inside repressive countries can use the innernet and get past local country blocking of websites, and also make it difficult for local country state secret police monitors to track down the operatives.

Yikes.

I just installed Pale Moon at home. It looks just like Firefox did back when Firefox was good. It allowed me to import my Firefox bookmarks. Seems to run a bit better on the dialup connection than Firefox did.

I switched to a Firefox clone called Comodo Dragon which got 4 out of 5 stars on CNET (they also have a Google browser clone). It is designed for security and privacy (you can run the browser from their secure servers) and has stripped out a lot of Firefox code that slows it down. All my usual add-ons worked no problem. I have been pretty happy with it so far.
