Couldn’t stand them! I put them in the same class as Boy George, if you know what I mean! But I’m a Rockabilly punk, Country pedal steel player, who likes to play Gatton tunes,,, so they had no appeal to me.

Currently, Duran Duran – whose membership remains the same as their 1981 debut minus guitarist Andy Taylor – are working on a new album with a little help from former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante.

Yikes. Doesn't seem like a very good fit.

The big news is that Duran Duran still has any fan club. I’m guessing this is made of people over the age of 40. Money is money. I could see big money makers like Gaga or Adelle or Elton spending four million dollars in pursuit of this 40.thousand, just to make a point :Don’t Mess With Me!, Capice?. Sometimes you have to stand up for yourself, never mind sentiment.

They are to the 80s what Led Zeppelin was to the 70s. Duran Duran really set the tone of the decade.

They must be hard up for cash if they are going after $40,000 in this manner. Back in their prime, that’s probably what they spent on catering for their post-concert spread in the dressing room when they were on tour.

Frusciante is an amazing guitarist, can’t wait to hear what he does on their album.

This story is a good example of “scraping the bottom of the barrel”.

I was a teenager in the 80s. Loved the music of that time. I was never huge into Duran Duran at that time, but I did like a few of their songs. This is one that I was reminded of recently, twice as a matter of fact, by Duran Duran that I really enjoy...once by a FRiend and then it came up in related videos for me the other day on You Tube. Somehow it went mainly unnoticed by me at the time. It has a beautiful, sensual feel to me. I enjoy the main chorus, the lyrics, and the guitar.

Duran Duran - Ordinary World
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDLiVwpv89s

Came in from a rainy Thursday
On the avenue
Thought I heard you talking softly

I turned on the lights, the TV
And the radio
Still I can’t escape the ghost of you

What has happened to it all?
Crazy, some are saying
Where is the life that I recognize?
Gone away

But I won’t cry for yesterday
There’s an ordinary world
Somehow I have to find
And as I try to make my way
To the ordinary world
I will learn to survive

Passion or coincidence
Once prompted you to say
“Pride will tear us both apart”
Well now pride’s gone out the window
Cross the rooftops
Run away
Left me in the vacuum of my heart

What is happening to me?
Crazy, some’d say
Where is my friend when I need you most?
Gone away

But I won’t cry for yesterday
There’s an ordinary world
Somehow I have to find
And as I try to make my way
To the ordinary world
I will learn to survive

Papers in the roadside
Tell of suffering and greed
Here today, forgot tomorrow
Ooh, here besides the news
Of holy war and holy need
Ours is just a little sorrowed talk

And I don’t cry for yesterday
There’s an ordinary world
Somehow I have to find
And as I try to make my way
To the ordinary world
I will learn to survive

Every one
Is my world, I will learn to survive
Any one
Is my world, I will learn to survive
Any one
Is my world
Every one
Is my world

There sure was a care-free, frivolous side to the ‘80s, kinda like when Ike was president. Hmmm...

I follow them on Facebook. They are not suing the fans, they are suing the company that used to manage the fan club.

I’m 46, and some of my kids like Duran Duran, along with many other 80s bands.
