CALLAHAN, Fla. — A Florida mom is fuming after her 4-year-old son was kicked out of preschool because of something she posted to her own Facebook page.

Ashley Habat doesn’t think her 4-year-old son should be punished for what she wrote.

Habat said her son, Will, was late for school on picture day at his private Christian preschool.

Facebook is really something that most people should not be using. It seems as if we are treated to someone nearly everyday getting in trouble over something they posted.

True but at the same times the school seems kinda petty. This is a private school and the mom did shell out bucks for it. She’s entitled to her opinion.

Facebook too easily provides a way of telling the world things you might not tell your best friend. Twitter is the same way.

What's the problem here? She publicly insults the school on her feed, she tags them on the post in a way that can easily be construed as taunting them, and then she's surprised when they tell her to take her kid somewhere else? They're a private entity - they can choose who schools there and who doesn't. End of story.

She had paid for the service, that’s the problem.

She’s entitled to her opinion.

And to accept responsibility for the consequences of her actions.

When you pay a lot of money for a service you expect high quality. These private schools are not cheap. If I was her I’d demand better as well. Private schools are suppose to be better than public but even in my area some are lagging behind in quality and service when it comes to the students they serve.

If I had to guess, this wasn't her first battle with the school. She probably marked herself early as a royal pain in the @$$.

People are entitled to their opinions but sometimes opinions have consequences. If I tell my neighbor his wife is ugly, that's my opinion, but I might just get a punch in the nose.

Well this lady found out the hard way that opinions sometimes have consequences.

Entitled or not, the school people are still major-league A-holes. And there may be some question as to whether they can take payment for service then deny service, although I assume that sort of thing is covered in the small print someplace.

The name needs to be changed from Facebook to Footinmouthbook.

It is unbelievable the things people post for the world to see. She publicly hammered the school so they hammered back. Since it is a private school they have every right to dump her son. Too bad for the kid but he does get a lesson about the real world. Maybe Mom got a lesson too in being more discrete about what she posts on Facebook.

she is.

but we don’t live in a vacuum and there are consequences for actions. the school can hae its standards and both are at-will places. if she pulled the kid out for something the school posted she didn’t like, would you say that was wrong?

He’s probably thrilled he has a chance to stay home.

the only thing she could be entitled to is a prorated refund. that’s it

just because you pay for something doesn’t mean they are your servants. they will provide the service as long as they see fit

ths is how its supposed to work... unless we’re no more then slaves supporting the govt (state capitalism)

First off why is a FOUR year old in any kind of school???? It is a private school which means it costs a fair chunk of change.

This mom is so way out of line for oh so many reasons.... not the least of which is she should be talking with the principal of the school if she has ‘issues’.

I agree. All the more reason for her to take care of her business.

If I was her I’d demand better as well.

I would too - provided that I was in the right. And I would do it eye to eye - not over the Internet. She took a miscommunication over a school event and ratcheted it up in a very public way that could cause damage to the schools reputation.
