Window washer plunges from downtown San Francisco building (And lives)

A window washer was critically injured Friday morning when he plunged from a building in downtown San Francisco, falling 11 floors before smashing onto the roof of a moving car, authorities said.
The impact at California and Montgomery Streets caved in the roof, back window and trunk of a 2002 Toyota Camry, but the man was conscious when paramedics arrived.

The word “plunges” in the headline makes me think he jumped. I guess plunge can mean fell, but it just sounds like he jumped.
