Garth Brooks cancels Thanksgiving appearance on ‘Tonight Show’ after Ferguson decision

The singer wrote on his Facebook page that he landed in New York on the night the grand jury’s decision was announced 'to the news of the civil unrest that was going on in our nation.'

Singer Garth Brooks has canceled a Thanksgiving appearance on NBC’s “Tonight” show because he said it “seemed distasteful” given the reaction to the decision not to prosecute Ferguson, Missouri, police officer Darren Wilson for the shooting of Michael Brown this summer.

NBC on Wednesday confirmed the postponement, saying Brooks was being replaced on the show by Whoopi Goldberg and Tom Colicchio.

Brooks wrote on his Facebook page that he landed in New York on the night the grand jury’s decision was announced “to the news of the civil unrest that was going on in our nation. To spend the day promoting our stuff like nothing was wrong seemed distasteful to me.”

There are many remarkable exceptions. The key element to this “act’s” “position” is that he is a UNION musician— meaning you can’t play ANY large venue anywhere in the US without being in the union (no stagehands will touch a cable or stage items— hence, no show). That’s one. Number two is that this particular bozo started with hid daddy’s oil money to “make it” in the biz— bought his way in. It is easy to do with money up front.

There is a very capable high quality stable of US musicians who have stellar careers without all this “fluff”. Legendary musicians— and they don’t engage in this persiflage and self puffery. This guy is a Dixie Chick— ie. a fraud.

He represents everything I hate about country music, just an absolute fraud and a complete clown act. Country music awards I can’t even watch, it’s like watching “the gay Broadway awards”

Remember who is powering these “metrosexuals” in the biz— the royalty firms, ASCAP, BMI SESAC— they are hammering small businesses for “royalties” for playing a damn radio overhead. The “obamaumao” hollywood types have their fingers in Nashville, for sure. Real crummy people— the gay list of “males” is for shame eternal. It started with the “Brokeback Mtn” cowboy crap (with help from Harry Reid and his “cowboy poets”— all kinds of BS there— a great Willie Nelson song on the same album where he writes in another tune about cowboys often being fond of each other. The hilarious one is “That Sh*t Ain’t Right”)

Why? because the baby boom is over— and they can’t mint money anymore— their business model is broken, and they won’t change. And, they don’t work any harder, and caters to “leisure” people... hence the queers and counter culture. Meanwhile, the working man has picked up their tab, even as his job is shipped away.

Thanks for the update. I don’t pay much attention at all to the comings and goings of the entertainment crowd, especially those that “everyone” likes because they happen to live locally. (Got enough of that living in northern New Mexico in the ‘70s and ‘80s.) I sort of wish that the 4 upcoming concert nights at the BOK Center that he sold out would suddenly be “not sold out” over this.

Good riddance to bad trash.

Oh good grief. Why on earth would it be distasteful? The world doesn’t have to stop because of a Grand Jury decision, and some folks getting their panties in a wad about it.

I guess I better hide mine OR just toss them out with this revelation. Truly, I’d never thought that of him.

3 verses to the commie Guthrie’s “This land” you might not know about.

There was a big high wall there that tried to stop me;
Sign was painted, it said private property;
But on the back side it didn’t say nothing;
This land was made for you and me.[8]
Woody Guthrie has a variant:

As I went walking I saw a sign there
And on the sign it said “No Trespassing.”
But on the other side it didn’t say nothing,
That side was made for you and me.
It also has a verse:

Nobody living can ever stop me,
As I go walking that freedom highway;
Nobody living can ever make me turn back
This land was made for you and me.
In the squares of the city, In the shadow of a steeple;
By the relief office, I’d seen my people.
As they stood there hungry, I stood there asking,
Is this land made for you and me?
