Impending CIA Interrogation Report Creates Fear of Violence
abc news ^ | 12-7-2014 | DEAN SCHABNER

U.S. embassies around the world are bracing for a potentially explosive report about to be released that details what the CIA did to terror suspects in the days after the Sept. 11 terror attacks, and the fear is that its release could threaten American lives.

The report, due to be released Tuesday by the Senate, is described as shocking in its very graphic descriptions of secret interrogations, including some details that have never been heard before.

All U.S. facilities around the world are being urged to review security and brace for the reaction, with concern particularly high in areas where there are hot spots, in the Middle East and North Africa.

The CIA and the Bush administration have already faced heavy criticism for post 9/11 interrogation techniques at so-called "black sites" across the world.

The use of waterboarding stopped many years ago, but, according to those who have seen this report, ugly new details about those procedures will be revealed, where prisoners were sexually demeaned, and CIA interrogators were urged to continue, even after concluding that no more information could be gleaned.

The Muslim world has erupted many times before when the U.S. and the West have been accused of religious and cultural slights. The chairman of the House Intelligence Committee said that if this report is released, groups like ISIS will take full advantage.

>The chairman of the House Intelligence Committee said that if this report is released, groups like ISIS will take full advantage.<

.
Then why release it?

Put it away for 50 years or so like the government has done with other reports that could hurt our national interest.

I cannot believe how stupid America was to sink to this level. All the conventional wisdom about the efficacy of the Geneva and Hague Conventions and the basic decency of Americans out the window. Now we prove ourselves no better than any thug government.

I want it stopped. I assured my mom based upon what I used to teach when I was an Army officer, that the US would never sink to that level. Wrong. We did.

I guess we should just curl up now and let the muzzies win. While we are at it lets ban burning the koran and cartoons of muhammad.

What an amusing theory! Moslem fanatics will sit quietly on their prayer rugs and not hurt us if we don’t release the report.

If no report comes out, methinks they will come up with some other excuse to attack us. Insanity does not wait for a bureaucratic report. Their grievances go back many hundreds of years.

Put away as done with the J Edgar Hoover FBI file on Martin L. King a 25 year sealed file probably gone forever.

We still don’t know who was aboard Air Force 1 when it buzzed manhattan right after Barry came to power. This shows that some secrets can be kept if it threatens someone’s job, but not the lives of ordinary Americans our troops and everyone serving abroad

Why would someone even think this stuff doesn’t go on??? Of course it happens...I don’t necessarily need to know about it...If someone has designs to kill my family or friends or destroy my country, I say do anything and everything to prevent that from happening...Whatever it takes...

Because it’s one last F U from the Senate Rats to the American people before they assumes their rightful place back in the minority.

Then again there may be a few more dirty tricks to come before the month is out.

Obama administration officials have said they favor making the report public, but on Friday Secretary of State John Kerry asked Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., the head of the Senate Intelligence Committee, to consider the timing of the release.

*******************************************************

Seems to me tbe Obama administration wants dead people.

There is no imperative to do this that has a good outcome.

Complicit murderers.

Yes, we are better than this. Never should the U.S. have stooped to torture. Whether released now or in the future won’t change the fact that we committed state torture. One of the worst outcomes is that we now have little standing to tell others to not torture our soldiers when we do it to others. As a veteran, as a father, that worries me most because we given license to others to do as Americans do. In the process we have lost part of what made America exceptional.

***Put it away for 50 years or so like the government has done with other reports***

The government refused to release details on the 1866 Fetterman Massacre for about 25 years. If they had, the public would have demanded the total annihilation of all Sioux and Cheyenne and would have then praised what Chivington did earlier at Sand Creek.

The vermin our soldiers face already use torture without batting an eye. It’s time we gave them a taste of their own tactics.

If the world is so damned aghast at us for violating treaties, maybe they should take a long look at the filth we’re fighting, and spend some of their outrage on them.

To hell with Geneva, the UN, Amnesty International, and all the rest of those busybodies who will grumble about the speck in our eye but ignore the log in our enemy’s.
