COVINGTON, GA Trust. Fortitude. Professionalism. Compassion. These are the virtues that the Georgia State Patrol is committed to and are ethics that apparently come naturally to Trooper Asher Gray. ##Gray, who lives in south Newton County but who is stationed out of Post 9 in Marietta, was working an off-duty job at The Home Depot in Clayton County this fall when he noticed a group of children come in the store and use the restroom. ##I found that a little odd, and then one night during the week, I saw the same two boys leave the restroom and run through the parking lot, Gray told the Citizen Tuesday. ##He walked out to the parking lot to see where they went and saw an SUV parked at the end of the lot with a man and a woman in the front seat. Gray walked over and asked them if they saw the two boys and the couple told him those were their boys.

A cadet at the Los Angeles Police Academy starts at $57,000 and once graduated bumps up to over $60K....it's well known that with overtime and a few years worth of service, it's a six figure job.
...when I graduated WVSP - I made $27,500 a yr...I thought that was big money in 1998!!!
And this from StateTrooperSalary.com:
Georgia Yearly State Trooper Pay Statistics
Average Yearly State Trooper Salary $34,106 - $51,158
Starting Yearly State Trooper Salary $28,087 - $42,130
Top Yearly State Trooper Salary $40,124 - $60,186
California is an anomoly, as usual. Teachers make more than GSP troopers, and in an abbreviated work year. It looks the pay is not bad, but it's not great.
WVSP has risen to the $41k+ a yr....but still....it just doesn’t pay to go into LE in certain areas....
Cops are normal people! I admire them - they go out to work every day and put themselves in danger for us. A blessed Christmas to all in law enforcement!
Thank you Trooper Gray for your service and a heart to help where you can. These are alms as given to the Lord and he knows and remembers the deeds of a mans heart.
The Georgia Staters are pretty good guys as are most of the cops in GA. I supported the Georgia State Patrol, the vest program and Gwinnett County boys for 17 years through my business. Money well spent.
This trooper and the rest of us are a long way from LA.
