Sorry, NOT so happy. What happened to the concept of half price drinks during Happy Hour and FREE finger food? I remember when I lived in L.A. and it would get over 100 degrees outside in the San Fernando Valley. I often sought refuge in the late afternoons at a Happy Hour place where I could get a half pitcher of beer for half price plus FREE finger food. Stuff like buffalo wings, egg rolls, fried mushrooms, etc. served buffet style.

This example is from Broward County but I bet you have the same situation in your area. However, if you know of a place that serves FREE finger food during Happy Hour in your area, especially South Florida, post the info here.

When I was out and about in the ‘90’s I knew every happy hour and what free food they served. I lived off happy hours. I even went to a happy hour brunch on Sunday afternoons at the lakefront. Of course, this is the Greater New Orleans Area so the free food was delish and the drink’n was easy:-) Yep the only time I had to fix dinner myself was Tuesdays. Being female helped!

There was a strip club on Northwest Highway across from Bachman Lake in Dallas that had pretty darn good buffet style free food during lunch time in the mid 80’s. Bunch of the guys from the office went there. Ate till we were full. Good place to get an eye full too.

I’m not so sure about going to a strip club to eat.

Too many nasties flying around.

But you go right ahead....

Who can afford to go out ?

Wow, back in the days, I could frequent eateries and bars on the waterfront in my boat. Ahh those were the days.

Now I couldn’t even buy an inner tube for the spare.

Hope and change alright.

Hollywood is the place in Broward if you can do dive type. G’s place has cheap drinks as does a real dive on Dixie hwy and Washington...can’t remember the name. Whiskey Tango has a great bacon cheese and egg burger plate for $5 on Monday HHs. There is place with terrific free hot dogs and cheap drinks all day on Sunday...The Octopus. But it is full of liberals and the f bomb is dropped every other second.

Well, I am pretty good at getting great restaurant deals cheap. For example I got a Groupon for a buffet Italian/Brazilian restaurant with great meats. Normal price is $65 for two but on GroupOn it was only $35. However, they also had a deal that if you bought more than $35 in Groupons they knocked another $10 off so the whole deal only cost me $25. We’ll go later this month.

When we lived in SoFlo my wife and I hit the mai Kai frequently. The quality dropped and we stopped going. I read later That they were shut down for health violations. The place appeared to be slowly deteriorating for years. I’m glad they were able to salvage and reopen it, but I don’t know it’s current state although it appears on this list.

It’s nice to think one of the interesting places I used to take my wife when we were dating is still around. Does anyone remember “the caves” in FTL? Baja Beach Club? Great days...still are but many of those places are no longer.
