A 21-year-old man remained hospitalized Thursday (Jan. 8), more than two weeks after he was shot during a botched robbery at a park on St. Charles Avenue, New Orleans police said.
But the recovering victim got some good news this week: With his identification of a suspect in a photo lineup, police arrested Taman Martin, 18, in the case.
Police allege Martin and three others went on a crime spree Uptown throughout December, robbing people, breaking into cars and stealing a vehicle. Martin was rebooked on charges of attempted murder and attempted armed robbery late Wednesday.
Police say Martin and his masked accomplice, who has not been arrested, approached two people who were in Danneel Park, at St. Charles Avenue and Octavia Street, on Dec. 20 around 10 p.m. The accomplice wielded a rifle-style gun, police said.
"Give me what you got," one of the assailants said, according to an arrest warrant. "This ain't no game."
Martin started patting down the victims and checking their pockets to see what they had, police said.
"You still think this is a game?" Martin said, according to the warrant. Then he ordered his accomplice: "Shoot him!"
The gunman shot the victim in the stomach, police said, leaving him in critical condition.
Police said they believe Martin's modus operandi is to pat down his victims. The victims in other crimes linked to him reported the same behavior, police said.
Martin and three others, Morris Smith, 17 and brothers Tevin Quinn, 20, and Darrell Quinn, 19, were all arrested after a police chase Sunday. Each was booked in four armed robberies Uptown that occurred between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday.
Cmdr. Paul Noel, who oversees the 2nd District Uptown, told reporters Thursday that authorities believe Martin and the other three also committed another eight to 12 crimes,

or Trayvon?
No more Katrinas. Perry would invite another bunch to Houston who will never leave. Except to get on a bus and go vote.
Just ask someone on the North shore.
I haven’t looked at the pics yet, but I’ll bet they are some Amish boys who came to town to have some fun. ;)
/sarcasm
Good thing it wasn’t an assault rifle-style gun. Then he could really get in trouble. </s
QUINNs ?????
First it’s the Amish and now it’s the Irish ?
Yep straight to a hanging a trial is not needed.
Not enough people in general in NOLa are carrying these days. And then college kids and tourists are the easiest targets, because they’re most likely not to be armed.
I honestly think some of these thugs are too stupid to even think about whether a potential victim is armed. And too stupid to identify a student or tourist. I really think they have a negative IQ.
Pre-Katrina my daughter lived on Jeannette St in NOLA, off-campus student housing. So you know we’re not talking upscale. Every student who lived in that bldg, except her, had their car broken into. Something to do with its being same age as her, I suppose. Then her luck ran out. They stole her CD player. Didn’t work! Yeah, THAT stupid.
