The full story is an incredible read, at least incredible to anyone who’s never been to college and had contact with the professorial elite and publish or perish academic priesthood. Like any profession, there’s a percentage made up of frauds. And it’s frequently the ones who are flamboyant with the biggest profiles in their field that turn out to be serial liars and cheats. It can take decades, as in this case, for them to be found out.
OK, I'm a conservative Christian, maybe I'm biased. But it set off my BS detector even then.
As did some other BS stuff I read, such as the book “the First Sex” by Davis. I couldn't explain why it was BS exactly, because in those days I though professors sought the truth. I have better tools to do that now.
Nevertheless, a minimally logical mind could determine that conclusions were being drawn that weren't supported by the evidence presented.
And that was enough for me.
