Looks like Bank of America is down. I was just told to call back on Monday to pay my credit card bill. WOW.
Winning!
Great story. Works just fine for me.
I just copied this from their website:
Were updating our credit card systems so we can better serve you. You can continue to use your credit card, and your payments and transactions, including recurring charges, will continue processing. You can view your credit card balance, but it may not be current at times. In addition, some credit card services are currently not accessible. These services include the ability to make a credit card payment and access to information regarding credit card transfers, statements and rewards redemption.
If you need assistance during this time, you may call the customer service number on the back of your credit card. Please note that customer service representatives will experience the same information delays while we complete these updates.
Thank you for your patience.
Time to change bank cards!
My local branch B of A was sold to an east Texas Citizens National Bank, my account included, and it did NOT go smoothly. All good now but I wonder if maybe it was a good time to change.
You just sure as hell better pay it! It's not really a credit card per say. It's a charge card.
Indeed. The chairs facing west are to be preferred on the deck of the Titanic.
I received a notice several days ago that they would making changes to their credit card system and to expect some problems with the system through February 11th.
Well whenever a bank, savings union, etc, is sold or absorbed by another, time to change! Rule of thumb is that if there are any increases in lending costs, mergers, or any other significant changes...change banks! A good rule to follow. Something is wrong if that happens.
If they are a takeover target, problems. If they can’t survive on there own, problems. Do the right thing and move to a local Credit Union and move away from the big banks.
True, AMX is one that expects you to pay the complete balance every month so that is not costing you money (or at least not much). Of course most folks don’t do that.
On occasion, such as December when I decided to take an expensive vacation to Florida to treat my youngest Daughter and Son in law along with my Grandchildren to a rather costly Christmas trip to Disney World, I did not pay it all off at the normal monthly payment but let it roll over for 2 months and payed it off in installments along with a nominal interest fee (final payoff is next weekend per my schedule).
If you can manage your finances within reason, having this convenience is very useful, IMO.
The trouble is that too many of us don’t see the ice berg until it is too late!

Yes, that is what these cards are for - unusual circumstances, but that also includes being frugal and being sure that your card has reasonable monthly interest rates!
Too many folks just get a card without looking at the annual percentage rate (never going to carry a balance, so who cares) but in an emergency, things change.
Local Credit Unions almost always give lower interest rates than a bank.
Also want to add that the likelihood of being a victim of a credit card scam is much lower compared to a major bank. This seems to be a major problem these days, and getting worse!
I will eventually regret that when interest rates finally climb again, but I will have to simply make sure to keep no revolving balance on the card I use and scout around for another low fixed interest rate card to use in times that I need to carry a short term balance.
Many years ago I had over $15K of CC debt and was wasting enormous sums of cash monthly to service that debt, but I finally wised up and payed it off as fast as I could manage and learned the hard way how to manage my finances in the best manner for personal prosperity in the modern age.
My bank probably isn't fond of my fiscal prudence, but they have millions of other customers who more than make up for the lack of steady income they no longer receive from my account.
Maybe they hired “Captain Wee Too Low” and Captain “Ho Lee Fuk” as new Banking Managers?
That being said, I only use a true CC for online purchases, and refuse to use my Debit card for any online transaction in order to safeguard my checking account. I also use my debit card as a CC in most circumstances in order to keep my checking account as secure as reasonably possible.
I just buy everything on my American Express card and pay one bill a month. Groceries, gas, satellite TV, utilities, medical bills, insurance, you name it.
i do the same. one for personal and one for business.
