What is THON?

THON is the largest student-run philanthropy in the world culminating in a 46 hour no sitting, no sleeping dance marathon involving over 700 dancers (PSU students)

When is THON?

Dancers stand at 6PM tonight and sit at 4PM Sunday

Who benefits from THON?

THON's sole beneficiary is the Four Diamonds Fund which supports pediatric cancer victims, families, and research at Penn State Hershey Childrens Hospital

How much money does THON raise?

Last year THON raised nearly $14 million of which 96% was donated to the Four Diamonds Fund. Since it's inception in 1973, THON has raised well over $100 million to fight pediatric cancer

How is the money raised?

Over 15,000 volunteer students raise money year round. Most comes from "canning" weekends, where students spread out around the northeast on street corners and intersections collecting donations and loose change.

Can you watch?

Yes! All 46 hours (and then some) are streamed live

TOPICS: Health/Medicine; Miscellaneous; Music/Entertainment
KEYWORDS: beatcancer; poe; psu; thon
This is NOT a solicitation for a donation to THON or the Four Diamonds Fund. If you would like to help kids with cancer, please seek out your local pediatric cancer organizations.

There was an award winning documentary made about THON a couple of years ago. This documentary can be viewed here (bring some tissues).

Just ignore them. The weekend is about the kids. They can't ruin it.

22 hour mark bump. Almost halfway there dancers! Highlights tonight include Pep Rally where all the athletic teams perform skits and dance routines.

I'm biased, but the WVB team is the best. And yes everyone loves #3 Kendall.

"Some day we'll dance in celebration. Until then we dance for a cure."

Live HD streaming available here.
