A machinists union is seeking an election at a Boeing plant in South Carolina.
The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers is asking a federal agency to set an election so more than 2,400 Boeing production workers in South Carolina can vote on whether to form a union.
Fred Wszolek, spokesman for the Workforce Fairness Institute, says the move is surprising.
"It's interesting that it's a much smaller number than the actual number of Boeing employees in Charleston. It's only about a third," he observes. "They must have defined some sort of micro-union that they think they can win and now you have some subset of the workforce."
South Carolina is a right-to-work state, meaning employees can decide for themselves whether to join or financially support a union.

I'm glad Gov. Haley came out against this.
Of these idiots did not vote democrat, then maybe we could build many factories that which unions could enjoy, but nooo... This is an Orwelian move if there ever was one.
From what I have seen, unions are starting to win these elections because they are not bound to crappy health insurance like the companies are.
That and $4.00 will get you a cup of coffee at Starbucks. Nikki's vacillation on raising the gas tax and reducing the income tax in South Carolina has weakened her credibility.
Unions out!
Only if you are not paying attention.
