As an ex soldier, I say 5.56mm sucks. 7.62mm is far superior, and with the right weapon you can achieve almost zero recoil and great accuracy and range with far superior stopping power.

My 77 Ruger chambered for .223 with a 3 x 9 Leupold is death to ground squirrels out on the ranch.

Neither has any real stopping power which is why Obama's attempts to ban it was a fu**ing joke.

7.62 is far, FAR superior.

.223/5.56: You can carry more. Flat trajectory. Bullet “tumbles”. A wounded man ties-up another/other men. Less recoil. The Russians copied it.

But even the manufacturers call it a “varmint” round.
I still like 7.62 better.
