I shoot at 600mm all the time, no problem. Camera and lens stabilizers work.

I have a Russian MTO 1000mm lens which is even longer used on a smaller sensor. It is an F/10 and that means slow shutter speeds. It also makes focusing a bit difficult in dim light.

When I use it in bright light, it can be really sharp.
