Alex Martin, 25, was pursued by Border Patrol in Pine Valley, California The agents were in unmarked cars They used a spike strip to pull Martin over, smashed his passenger window and then fired a Taser into the car The shot ignited the interior and the car exploded Dashcam footage shows the agents fleeing the scene and not helping Martin burned to death His family are now suing the US federal government

The family of a 25-year-old man who died in a car fire in California is now suing the US federal government, claiming a Taser shot by Border Control agents caused the car to explode.

Horrific footage from the dashcam of the agents' car is being used as evidence in the lawsuit and has now emerged online, showing the moment the vehicle blew out and how the officers, despite being armed with fire extinguishers, fled the scene.

The video shows plain-clothed agents running up to the car and smashing the passenger-side window with a flashlight - without engaging the driver - and then firing a Taser inside.

Unexpectedly, the car blows up, likely due to a gas canister inside the car, propelling the agents back and burning to death the driver, Alex Martin, according to NBC 7 San Diego.

Shockingly, the video shows the agents fleeing the scene and leaving Martin to burn to death inside.

The incident occurred in March 2012, however the disturbing video has only just emerged.

Border Patrol said the video had been recorded over and was gone, however the FBI's forensic division were able to track it down.

Officials say Martin had lead the agents on a high-speed chase in Pine Valley, California, for about three minutes.

They used a spoke strip to deflate his tires, eventually stopping the car.

Seems this border jumper had a open container of gasoline in the automobile.....so he would not have to stop and refuel

Looks like a regular kid to me. Being chased by unmarked cars?
His mom will be very rich soon. But it won’t bring him back.

Yeah, a number of states, those with legislators who care at least a little about the safety of their citizens, don’t allow unmarked cars to stop people. But I doubt those laws would apply to federal agencies.

There’s a lot more to this story than has been told.

They didn’t kick his ass. They incinerated it. Still, it’s his tough luck for being a criminal invader driving at high speeds to evade the BP. Screw ‘im and his money grubbing mama.

Show me where in the article that it says he was not a US citizen. Maybe I missed it?

Okay, then tell us, oh enlightened one, the “rest of the story.”

How, for instance, did they manage to “record over” the video? That seems very odd to me.

Those cops are either incompetent, or they criminally tried to destroy evidence. There is no other explanation.

How many times have criminals used tire spike strips across a road?

He seems to have “failed to respond” when they approached the vehicle and even after they chased him, blew out his tires, and shattered his window. No one on scene at the tire strip had a marked vehicle?

The taser likely ignited fuel in the vehicle.

How did this chase wind up in a tasering and no cooperation?

I have no conclusions, just unanswered questions about the victim and scenario.

Summary Execution, hmmm?

So much for ‘non-lethal’ weapons being used without proper aim, targeting or training.
