Great share! You’re an Old Timer with some good tread. Colorado was in its prime when you were stomping around here. Being a part of the Big Thompson Flood about makes you an honorary native, if not Historical Legend. I was 11 and will never forget it!
Good to connect!
Yeah, I cheated. But at least GrumbleBummer is consistent!
I grew up in Ann Arbor and when I was a teenager, 30 years ago, I used to go to the free movies at the Modern Language Building often on Friday or Saturday nights. So I am not sure this is something recent to counter an alleged surge of drunkenness.
... and his horse.
Someone on the thread asked about why that university had movies on Friday night and the girl said on the film that was the reason the university did that. I don’t know if that started recently or if they had been doing it for years. It sounds like a good idea to me. They can go there or not but at least it’s something to do on Friday night rather than indulge in risky behavior. :o)
Agree!! My son’s college does the same thing. They also bring in rising musicians, etc.
The kids seem to really be enjoying this.
Thanks, Steven, for posting this. We need more Rachels in our colleges.

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York is another college refusing to show AMERICAN Sniper because MUSLIMS complained.
>>> Why are they officially showing any movies on campus?
>>Rachel Jankowski, on the film, says the university started showing films on Friday night so perhaps students would go to the movies instead of going to bars and getting drunk or doing other things that werent healthy for them.
For probably the same reason the barracks soda machines on Okinawa US military bases also sold beer. At least, while I was there. I’ll bet by now on the other side of the world even those have been nanny-stated out of existence.
No under-21 sales in the on-base clubs, mind you (far as I recollect) but we ceremonially made my roommate wait til the stroke of midnight of turning 21... because really it was the only way to make an occasion of it, LOL.
