I grew up in Long Beach and well remember the Circle Drive In. That theatre was where they showed Alfred Hitchcock's "Psycho". I recall mentioning to someone how the traffic backed up as people fought to get into see it, and he stated that was purposeful as that drive in was smaller than most others so the backed up traffic was a form of advertising.

As for Beany's I don't recall it at all. However, I do recall a drive in restaurant at the corner of PCH and 7th that was very popular for we "cruising" teenagers (shades of "American Graffiti"). It was there I was introduced to cherry Cokes (not in the bottle, the cherry flavor was added. Way cool). If anyone can recall the name of that restaurant, I would appreciate it.

Btw, how many recall the TV show that was the basis for Beany’s? Beany and Cecil (the seasick sea serpent), one of my favorites.
