More to the point, targeting the firearms rights of law abiding citizens will do NOTHING to prevent these criminals from getting a hold of firearms and killing one another with them. we are not the problem. Pfleger is proposing what is obviously an unworkable and unrealistic solution to a problem and then blaming the NRA when nothing changes. He clearly isn’t interested in changing anything as he clearly hasn’t proposed ANYTHING that will change ANYTHING.
But there is a segment of our society which alters its reasoning when it comes to firearms, and instead of blaming the criminal, blames the gun--hence my diatribe.
If they could (hypothetically speaking) eliminate all guns and knives and blunt instruments, prevent the use of hands and feet and ligatures, they would still fail to see the deaths in their neighborhoods are the result of deep seated, internal, and cultural problems--and those deaths would continue.
No piece of hardware will make a difference if eliminated, it is those who act with malicious or indifferent intent who do the damage.
Until the poverty pimps are willing to place the blame where it belongs and quit excusing the aspects of their culture which lead to this sort of crime, it will not be abated.
That, however would require the assignation and/or acceptance of responsibility, personal and cultural, for the mess they have.
Until they can see where the problem lies, there will be no solution--and blaming guns, whitey, Conservatives, the NRA, or events that ended 155 years ago just won't get the job done.
Either that, or all this is just so much anti-gun BS aimed at disarming more honkeys before the 'race war' someone is planning gets officially kicked off.
