A Colt .45 revolver once owned by General George S. Patton sold for $75,000 at auction in Los Angeles.
Profiles in History, which conducted the auction, had expected the working firearm to fetch over $60,000.
The Colt .45 Model 1873 single-action revolver with distinctive stag horn grip was acquired by the famous World War II general around 1928.

I thought Gen. Patton had another with an ivory handle.
One day I will get the picture of him (taken from the back) pissing in the Rhine when they got there.

I prefer 15 round mags; you just can’t have enough “assault ammo”.

Doesn’t look like it has been used much. Probably bought it as a spare.
I would love to have the one he used to kill two Mexican Bandits with.

Above is a link to the WWII+70 years thread. On page 10 it talks about Patton’s visit to the Whitehouse. “Patton Invades Whitehouse” (Oh to see that headline today!).
A reporter asked him where his two revolvers were.
Patton replied something like “On duty I only wore one, except for one landing where I wore two.”
When asked about the pearl handled “automatic” pistol (I’m guessing a 1911?) he was seen wearing in Boston, Patton replied - “Oh - that was my social gun.”

No. This revolver shoots .45 Colt, not .45 ACP.

Thanks. I saw it a while back. Didn’t look like much, until I heard the explanation.

It may have been the Russians or others in the Army that did him in.
