Adobe Flash, the much-loathed, bug-plagued relic of a browser plugin, just got a big nail driven into its coffin.

I've got a brand new computer running IE and I've never been able to get Flash to work, despite following trouble-shooting instructions.
I can live without Flash.

Somebody’s got to come up with a secure alternative. I know entire companies built on Flash...such as KixEye

Some programs use flash as part of the user interface. It’s a big pain in the arse.

What’s wrong with Flash? Other than there is another update every fifteen minutes.

Adobe requires that you download their latest patch to access this thread.

So those of us who use Flash are SOOL?
There are games my kids play plus some of the webcams I visit use it IIRC. The one in Golden Heart Plaza Fairbanks might be one or that may be Java. No matter, lots of stuff I have used for years just plain doesn’t work.

Chrome has been warning me all day about flash update. Unfortunately, I am on my work laptop and can’t upgrade without involving IT and endless red tape.

Yeah, been noticing that since I installed the latest version of FireFox a few days ago. They’re blocking everything that uses adobe flash.

Thank God! That thing has been nothing but a giant pain in the @$$ for ages. Constant computer slowdowns and even outright freezing of the browser.

That means Firefox users will not be able to turn on the plug-in to access Flash content -- they'll have to seek out another browser if they need to use Flash. They must have changed their mind because after a plugin fix, Flash is working on Firefox as of now.

I thought the biggest question is...WHY are people still using Firefox: the same browser which ousted the conservative co-founders of the browser after he came out against faggot marriage?

Some sites crash Flash. Flash crashes all the time when I’m trying to watch something on Youtube.

I say good riddance, considering that HTML 5.0--finalized by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) in October 2014--can now do most things that used to require Flash. With Mozilla now officially no longer supporting Flash in Firefox and Microsoft not allowing the Flash plugin in the Edge web browser in Windows 10, I think the companies that do online ads may require all ads to be coded in HTML 5.0 only from now on.

I finally had it with my browser locking up and going unresponsive [and whiting out like a cataract over the whole screen] and used my QuickJava toolbar button to kill the Flash. The Adobe site says Flash is not installed or is disabled. So far all OK. We shall see!
