Some people will go out of their way to politicize EVERYTHING. It makes those things that should be politicized obscured by the manure.

I'm not sure it was a crime. HitchBOT didn't belong to anyone. It was a social experiment, according to its builders, who neither want its destruction investigated or anyone charged.
And, for the record, I'm not cheering hitchBOT's destruction. I thought the concept was kinda cool. I'm also not surprised about its fate. So I guess this social experiment taught the experimenters something after all.
