BAYONNE -- After a yearlong battle with stomach cancer, Marcy Borders -- the woman known as the "Dust Lady" from the iconic photo taken of her as she escaped from the Twin Towers on Sept. 11 -- has died, according to Facebook posts by multiple family members.
Michael Borders, Marcy Borders' brother, said in a Facebook post at 11:22 a.m. yesterday that he needed everyone to pray for her, before posting about 12 hours later: "I can't believe my sister is gone."

I always wondered who that lady was, I’m so sorry to learn of her demise. Prayers up for her family.
Marcy, I pray you are in our Saviour’’s loving arms and that your son is being raised to love the Lord.
Amen.
life is not fair, never has been, never will.....but still very hard to except things like this...
My firemen friends took it on the chin after months of cleaning out “the pit” as they called it.
Lung cancer, chronic lung problems, lymph nodes cancer, just bad.
Receive the soul of your loving daughter, Father God. May she rest in everlasting joy in the Lord, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
that stuff what awful, what the dust was composed of. Dangerous stuff.
I don’t know this photo at all.
Sorry for her.
My iconic image is the film of another older black woman walking outside and getting some help to walk and breathe after the collapse. I remember it from that very day, and it is frequently shown on 911 shows.
Can`t say about now, but there used to be a two hour rule that states that a building fully engulfed in flames needs to withstand two hours before it collapses from heat damage. They used to utilize asbestos gunite or shotcrete technique to cover all critical structural elements to enable this resistance to extreme heat. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shotcrete
