Opinions expressed by Forbes Contributors are their own. Its an established fact that Android is the dominant mobile OS around the world. Estimates claim that Android owns from just over 50 percent to nearly 80 percent of the mobile device market, but Apple is winning where it countsmoney. According to data released by Apple it seems the iPhone money train is still steaming along nicely with a record-breaking 13 million iPhone 6S and iPhones 6S Plus units sold a record-breaking 13 million iPhone 6S and iPhones 6S Plus uts sold in just the opening weekend.
The iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus are really just getting started. On October 9 the devices will become available in 40 additional markets, including Italy, Mexico, Russia, and Spain. Apple says the new smartphones will be available in more than 130 countries by the end of the year, which means the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus sales figures will just keep climbing.
Sales for iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus have been phenomenal, blowing past any previous first weekend sales results in Apples history, said Tim Cook, Apples CEO. Customers feedback is incredible and they are loving 3D Touch and Live Photos, and we cant wait to bring iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus to customers in even more countries on October 9.
As a whole, Android will sell far more devices. The vast majority of those devices are typically Galaxy deviceswhich Samsung sells in massive volume. Despite outselling Apple significantly in terms of volume, though, Samsung makes a fraction of the profit that Apple does. Apple is making an estimated 92 percent of the profit in the mobile industry, followed by Samsung at a distant second with 15 percent.

The Mrs got an iPhone 6s for work a coupe months ago and did not like it. I just upgraded my android for another android.
I'm pretty sure that's not possible.
What is so special about the new iPhone6 that people are “jumping through hoops” to get one? I have a Samsung Galaxy5 which the kind souls at AT&T were nice enough to send me when my contract expired - is there so much MORE in the iPhone6 that would justify the $600+ price?
6 Plus, whatever, the big one.
Just messin’ with ya.
Not sure what the big deal is. Although I will say that the only reason the sales numbers for the 6s appear so inflated is that for the first time Apple is including China sales in their data. No question the 6s is selling, just not the fanatical record numbers Tim Cook is trying to confuse with.
Scalpers are skewing the early sales figures. Looks like some may have miscalculated.
I cannot keep the extension model names straight, lack of interest on my part. Everyday I get older the more I shun tech.
Couldn't have been an iPhone 6s, because they just were released on Friday. . . Must have been an iPhone 6.
That link is from September of LAST year.
I live in Key West and rarely venture on the mainland so there are no Apple stores readily available to me
I have ATT as a carrier and the service in the store is a nightmare
any suggestions?

This iPhone 5S is the most perfect phone I have ever owned. I used to have Android phones and I'm not going back anytime soon.
“What is so special about the new iPhone6 that people are jumping through hoops to get one?”
I heard that on this version you will be aboe to surf the web, play games, and watch videos. I also heard you can use it to make phone calls
Since all iPhones use a common user interface, that makes it very easy to update iOS to the latest version each device supports. I have an iPhone 6 (64 GB) and it's gone from iOS 8.0 to 9.0.1 with no significant issues (and will continue to do so until I finally trade it in on the iPhone 7 in the fall of 2016). That'a why people like to buy the iPhone, because they know very well that Apple will make available iOS updates on a timely basis. Indeed, that's why even the old iPhone 5 from 2012 is still valuable, since it can run iOS 9.0.1 reasonably well.
Your Samsung Galaxy 5S, when it was new and first released, sold for $50 MORE than the Apple's equivalent flagship iPhone 4s, that was selling for $599 unlocked at the time. What justified Samsung's Galaxy 5's $649 unlocked retail price tag then?
Now, your Samsung 5 phone is a one and a half old model. It's been superseded by the Samsung Galaxy 6S. When the Samsung Galaxy 6s came out in April, sellers were offering the Galaxy S6 discounted on Amazon for between $849.99 and $1,139.00 and the Galaxy S6 Edge for between $1,105.00 and $1,335.00. Do you really want to criticize Apple for their prices in light of that information?
Top tier cellular phones are essentially competitive when sold without contracts. Samsung's current top tier phones are priced similarly to Apple's if sold without contracts. . . and priced similar if sold WITH contracts.
You aren't getting yours free either, you're paying for it in your contract with AT&T.
As to your question, the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus have a vastly improved camera system over what is already considered the best in the industry, with the capability to video in 4k, the plus can do video stabilization like a stead-cam, a new photo mode which makes active photos that come alive for three seconds when viewed, a new user interface call Touch 3D where how hard you touch the screen is measured and affects what you are doing and how the iPhone responds to your touch screen inputs, and the processor is now the equivalent of what is available in a Macbook notebook computer for speed and graphics. All of this ties into Apple's ecosystem, seamlessly connecting together with other Apple devices including Apple iPhones, iPads, iPods, computers, and Apple TV and Apple Play on automobiles. . . as well as the upcoming home automation.
So what is your point?
Uh, tacticalogic? Do you always post outdated FUD??? That article was FUD when it was posted last year and it's even more FUD now. Look at the date of publication; Sep 24, 2014 6:08pm. Did you really think no one would notice????
