Alex Dennison and Ashley Lewis should have listened to people. The Australian couple adopted their German Shepherd, Nasra, when she was eight weeks old. The pair were frequently stopped on the street by strangers who complimented the beautiful canine while telling them that, based on the size of her paws and head, she was going to be a big girl.

Dennison and Lewis usually laughed off the warnings. They did, however, create a growth chart by photographing Nasra every month. In the series, the first image starts with Lewis comfortably cradling Nasra to the latest image where the dog is almost as long as her.

And Nasra hasnt stopped growing. Her diet consists of a 44 pound bag of kibbles every month, oats, meat, and of course, treats.

[Her diet consists of a 44 pound bag of kibbles every month, oats, meat, and of course, treats.]

Had a girlfriend like that.

I took her to a restaurant. She took a look at the menu and said “OK”. At another, they didn’t give her a menu, they gave her an estimate. /RD

That GS looks like it has a touch of Ovcharka(Caucasian Shepherd) in it.

That coat says there's definitely something more there than straight GSD. Impressive dog.

When a dog is that big, it’s good for him to always think he’s your puppy.

That is not a tiny puppy. If the owner was surprised then the owner has had little or no previous experience with raising dogs and probably has no friends who have raised dogs..

Nice story....but I'm pondering why they were so surprised...

Their GS looks a tad big, but well within normal size.

I’m currently baby-sitting my daughter’s 200+ lb mastiff, Ted.

There needs to be a new word for drool.

Yes. I kept looking for the picture of the “tiny puppy”. But compared to the (semi)final result, the dog in the first picture is small. She’s only 8 mos. old, so she stil has some growing to do. Aand she looks larger because she is a long-haired GSD.

Our neighbors had the opposite experience. They thought that they had a rescue dog that was a mix of Lab and Shepard. Turns out the dog is Terrier and something else unknown at this time. So the dog will be about 1/3 the size of what they thought it would be.

15.5 years! Wow, how blessed were you to have that golden goofus ALL those years. And yet, it couldn’t have been long enough.

Thanks for that image and the laugh that it inspired in me.

She could be the twin of my 5 year old Shepherd. She is a long hair - pure German Schafferhund - weighs 90#. Great temperment although she is not as talkative as most Germans.

Great dogs!

You can't go wrong with a German Shepherd. Here are the three I've adopted from German shepherd Rescue of Orange County (gsroc.org), the rescue organization that Chrisinoc volunteers for. Sorry if the pictures are too big, this is my first time posting pics and I don't know how to size them. Nina 11-22-2003 - 5-19-2014
