Alex Dennison and Ashley Lewis should have listened to people. The Australian couple adopted their German Shepherd, Nasra, when she was eight weeks old. The pair were frequently stopped on the street by strangers who complimented the beautiful canine while telling them that, based on the size of her paws and head, she was going to be a big girl.
Dennison and Lewis usually laughed off the warnings. They did, however, create a growth chart by photographing Nasra every month. In the series, the first image starts with Lewis comfortably cradling Nasra to the latest image where the dog is almost as long as her.
And Nasra hasnt stopped growing. Her diet consists of a 44 pound bag of kibbles every month, oats, meat, and of course, treats.

Max is almost a universal name for Sheperds.....in our (then) new neighborhood, three neighbors all had one - and, yes, they were all named Max.

Thank you. They are fine dogs and I consider myself fortunate to have found such a great organization as GSROC.
I would urge anyone considering getting a dog to look into rescue organizations in your area to see if they have a dog for you.
There are few things more satisfying than knowing you’ve saved a good dog’s life.

I love big dogs, but without a large yard so that would happen far away..........

A few years ago I adopted what looked like a full blood English Mastiff from the local pound.
They didn't even want me to take her; said she was to sick and she would be put down.
I insisted and threatened to call the local paper if they refused; they made me sign a contract that I would be responsible for all her vet bills and I would never try to bring her back to ANY animal shelter.
After vet bills to the tune of my brand new M1-A1 rifle (which I never did get to purchase) and a significant additional cost for dietary supplements and various anti-biotics and other treatments, she is now my great big beautiful girl.
I weigh 178 in my boots; last vet visit she weighed 217 in her bare paws.
Wish I knew how to post a picture, she is just my great big beautiful girl puppy doggie.

I had a Briard that exceeded the standards. He would stand on his hind legs, put his front paws on my shoulders and look me straight in the eyes. Then lick me half to death! I’m 6’3” tall.

Max is a fitting name for such a noble breed.
I was devastated after losing him to Rocky Mountain Spotted fever. He was diagnosed only 2 days before he died, and showed no real signs of being sick until the end.

No, not necessarily. The dog is indeed at least a long-coat shepherd, and they often look a bit off.
But then, my “fear” is it is a Shiloh/King Shepherd type. I do not know for sure but rumors are that they crossed with Malamutes and the like. Anyway, they are too big and also very square, rather than long, big-built, and straight-legged more like spitz types would be.

Yes, actually, doesn’t look that unusual. It’s a long-coat Shepherd (at least), so it can be deceptive with all that fluffy coat.

“Im currently baby-sitting my daughters 200+ lb mastiff, Ted.
There needs to be a new word for drool.”
Well, when we had our pit/bulldog mix, we came to call the drool DOG SLING. She would shake her head and leave strands all over. Sometimes, once it dried you could peal it off dashboards and other smooth surfaces. We called her, Total. Best dog we ever had, but if you messed with either of us you would be “Totaled.”
Why is my keyboard so wet?? I still miss her.

We got a mutt from the pound. A poodle and a cocker. Fluffy was the sweetest little lady and always cute. Mom cut off her curls one summer and she hid behind the couch for 3 days.
