That GS looks like it has a touch of Ovcharka(Caucasian Shepherd) in it. That coat says there's definitely something more there than straight GSD. Impressive dog.

No, not necessarily. The dog is indeed at least a long-coat shepherd, and they often look a bit off.
But then, my “fear” is it is a Shiloh/King Shepherd type. I do not know for sure but rumors are that they crossed with Malamutes and the like. Anyway, they are too big and also very square, rather than long, big-built, and straight-legged more like spitz types would be.
