'They're taking over!': How New York's rat problem is worse than ever - and millions are..

When New Yorkers see something scurrying, they say something and that has brought rat complaints to the city's 311 hotline to a recent high of more than 24,000 so far this year, officials said on Thursday.

'The rats are taking over,' New York City comptroller Scott Stringer told Reuters. 'I'm a lifelong New Yorker and I've never seen it this bad... I see them on my way home, they're standing upright, they say, "Good morning, Mr Comptroller."'

With more than two months of grumbling still left in 2015, rodent-related grievances were already at 24,375 as of Wednesday, said Mayor Bill de Blasio spokeswoman Natalie Grybauskas. That's up from 20,545 in 2014 and 19,321 in 2013.

How New York's rat problem is worse than ever

Yup, from de Blasio on down to the people who voted for him.

Oh, and they need to get rid of the vermin variety too.

More reason than ever to cordon off that cesspool and prevent anything from getting out.

Where’s the recent pic of the rat carrying an entire slice of NY pizza down the subway stairs?

Step 1 Make it legal to hunt them with an air rifle.

Step 2 Offer a bounty of $2 per rat.

Problem over and homeless and unemployed folks got money to spend.

You got rats on the west side
Bed bugs uptown
What a mess this town’s in tatters I’ve been shattered
My brain’s been battered, splattered all over Manhattan
Uh-huh, this town’s full of money grabbers
Go ahead, bite the Big Apple, don’t mind the maggots, huh

Perhaps Weather Station’s “Fat Guys in the Woods” host could give demonstrations on how to kill, skin, and cook the varmints.

Members of the Ryders Alley Trencher-fed Society (RATS) are training their dogs to sniff out and kill the huge rats that scurry down New York City’s alleys.

Someone was on Sean Hannity the other day and mentioned they had been in NY for a week and it was nice to leave and go back to America.

I read years ago, in the early 1960s, that the rat problem in NYC was so bad the city offered a bounty on rat tails.

Problem was people were so lazy they wanted the city to fix the rat problem and refused to catch and kill their own rats.

I also remember at that time several magazines had advertisements in the back offering cash for rat tails.

I notice that the "officials" being good democRATS themselves, blame the problem not on the rat population, but on the new reporting system....

seriously, why have they not destroyed the rat population?.....I wouldn't put up with it and I could never live in an area with them....

my dtr in Portland Oregone who lives within the city limits states that she occasionally sees one was told that they're in the sewer system.

Rat problem from top to bottom in NYC.
They are probably seeking “humane” ways of getting rid of the rats. Idiots.

In India the farmers hire rat catchers. Some micro-loan program came up with a better device to smoke them out of their holes. So the rat catchers can catch more. They get 50 cents bounty per rat, get to keep the rats, and any rice that the rats had stashed in their holes!

One catcher said now he catches enough rats to not only feed his family, but his wife prepares them and sells them. He is making enough money now to send his kids to school so they won’t have to be rat catchers.

Of course here in the U.S. you would have to promise $50 per rat in order for anyone to get off the front porch and go after them.

They need more cats. Cats play a vital role in keeping vermin down.

Clearing away alley cat colonies has bad side effects.
