Gee, Do You Think Dems Will Use Carson's Plan to End Medicare Against GOP in 2016 Election?

In 2009 Democrats ran this ad claiming Republicans wanted to end Medicare. DNC TV Ad: “Republicans Want to End Medicare”

It was a lie. But Democrats know it is an effective tactic to scare seniors away from voting Republican.

Fast forward to 2015… This week The Politico reported that Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson wants to abolish Medicare. ben carson

Via Politico:

“ Republicans have fended off accusations for years that they’d gut Medicare for seniors and end the program “as we know it.”

Not Ben Carson. The former neurosurgeon acknowledges he would abolish the program altogether.

Carson, who now leads the GOP field in Iowa according to the latest Quinnipiac Poll, would eliminate the program that provides health care to 49 million senior citizens, as well as Medicaid, and replace it with a system of cradle-to-grave savings accounts which would be funded with $2,000 a year in government contributions. While rivals have been pummeled for proposing less radical changes, Carson hasn’t faced the same scrutiny — and his continued traction in polls has left GOP strategists and conservative health care wonks scratching their heads.

“This isn’t a borderline issue. The politics of this are horrific,” said Doug Holtz-Eakin, head of the American Action Forum and health care adviser to Sen. John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign…

Today Dr. Carson tried to backtrack from his previous plans for Medicare on FOX News Sunday.

So do you think Democrats will use this against Republicans in the 2016 general election? And was this really the brightest move for the neurosurgeon to take on Medicare at this time?

Trump is not bought, because he is the one buying politicians. He admitted to it. He should be in prison.

That would be fine, but I don’t think you can stiff people that have been paying in to mandatory programs for decades. That’s called STEALING.

I love Ben... I agree with him on 99%.

But, you DO NOT come out with a plan to “end Medicare”... without a well-planned, and well thought out replacement. His appearance on Fox News today was... in a word... Tarrible... (with a Charles Barkely accent).

Political suicide occurred today....

$2,000 a year in government contributions

So he's replacing the current socialized healthcare with another socialized healthcare.

What we need is to get the federal gov't out of healthcare altogether.

That requires a plan to phase it out, instead of replacing it.

If you're not prepared to do that, then don't bother us with "new improved" socialism.

Ending something doesn’t mean people who’ve been mugged for it won’t get it back. As they should. But it should be whittled down to where only those things paid for are paid back. As should Social Security.

It should all be scaled back until all paid back, then ended, period.

Well .. there’s an easier way to do it.

STOP allowing use of the SS money for DISABILITY payments.

Al Gore and a few of his DemocRAT friends .. decided to raid the SS funds ..... years and years ago. That’s where all the money went. The DemocRATS stole it.

We need to shut that gate .. and keep it permanently shut before we do anything else.

Then, they can have the chance to change the way it’s handled.

How is that determined? The money confiscated from our paychecks if wisely invested in private accounts would have a return value many times that of what we are receiving in Social Security.

There would have to be a mandatory cut off date to stop deductions, then a fazed in replacement plan.

Carson did not have a plan to put forth, so he is just talking out his rear end and got called on it.

Using Carson against himself and others would be raciss....

Now for a short public service announcement to all on FR:

I prefer Cruz and my money goes to his campaign, hence the Cruz link. If you like someone else, donate to him/her (find your own link to do it) and if you use FR and don't donate, then please don't complain about the welfare leeches or those who have Obama Phones because, functionally, you are no different.....

GO CRUZ!! Keep it up Trump!!

Donate to Cruz

Donate to FR

Like yourself, I support Cruz. I set up monthly donations the same day he announced. I think Trump has been a positive influence and would vote for him if he gets the nomination.

I feel the same way about FR that you do. If we use it, we have to support it. And it is worth supporting!

We haven't been "paying in to" anything. We have been robbed and lied to. Taking money from Smith and giving it to Jones is called STEALING, and that is what Social Security and Medicare do. The only difference between them and the other welfare programs is that the government is at least honest about them being welfare programs.
