Current Media Attack Against Trump: Iowa Voters Being Stupid
Vanity | 13 Nov 15 | xzins

Posted on 11/13/2015 6:46:56 AM PST by xzins

Rather than rebut the media, let's just post the actual words of Donald Trump, so everyone can compare what the media says versus what Donald Trump actually said.

About Iowa Voters:

Trump is talking about Carson's story of stabbing his friend. He relates what Carson has written about lunging with a knife to stab his friend when lo and behold it hits the friend's belt instead... and then: "He plunged it (the knife) into the belt, and amazingly the belt stay totally (fine?), and the knife broke --- how stupid are the people of Iowa, how stupid are the people of the country, to believe this crap..."

Contrast that with the media meme: "Trump called the voters of Iowa stupid." As you can see from above, he was talking about Carson's story being unbelievable that the knife hit a belt and it broke the knife.

See video of the event at the 2:01 mark toward the end of the speech.

That is how I remember New Yorkers speaking.

But, it’s a common expression when talking about something unbelievable.

My dad would say, “Jack’s beans grew as high as a magic kingdom with a goose laying golden eggs. Are you stupid enough to believe something like that?”

And I wasn’t.

He should also be the most feared candidate because he WILL take the battle to the enemy. Notice he didn’t fear the “mean to females” meme when he said the other night, “Why does she (Fiorina) keep interrupting?”

>> Continuing to say things like this is not going to win him any new votes <<

Excellent point. And when the good Dr. Herman C. Carson inevitably fades from the picture, will the Iowa evangelicals who now support him suddenly transfer their loyalty to a probable adulterer, a doubtful Christian and a crony capitalist? It’s unlikely IMHO. I think a fellow evangelical (Cruz?) is the likely beneficiary.

Notice he didn't fear the "mean to females" meme when he said the other night...

And he's not afraid of attacking Carson, who represents both Blacks and nice guys.

Thanks.

I can see the new Carson slogan,

“Carson in 2016: Thank God for Statutes of Limitation!”

I think that “stupid” might become one of the banned words from the left. Fortunately people understand that Donald is the unPC candidate and don’t want to make a “dumb” decision on his candidacy.

At this point I prefer Trump/Cruz equally. But by the time my state has a primary it may not matter what I like

Good question. It is long past time to have a nationwide primary vote. The way it is now may have been fine when politicians had to travel by horse or stagecoach.

>> What ‘crap’ was he talking about? <<

I don’t think a distinction as to the exact nature of the referenced “crap” is material to the argument at hand. Not worth quibbling over. I believe the embedded message of Trump’s rhetorical question is invariant, as it were, to the specificity of the excrement.

On the other hand, the whole incident clearly doesn’t matter because Trump can do no wrong. Nothing to see here. Move along.

It is dishonest because there is no reason to think that today Carson has any “pathological (hidden) anger” and/or is a “liar.”

How is Trump supposed to win over Carson’s voters by calling them stupid?

This also puts the lie to him saying an “intern” put out his deleted tweet saying the corn was affecting Iowans’ brains. He said the exact same thing here in a different way.

Sounds like Kent Brockman from The Simpsons...”I for one place the blame squarely on you, the viewers.”

Maybe Carson was trying to stab someone from WWE...

It is absolutely material to Trump’s comment. He was talking about the knife breaking just at the moment Carson was stabbing someone, as Carson told the story.

That is what Trump said was crap.

That is what he said was unbelievable. That is what Trump said he didn’t think Iowans were stupid enough to believe.

It's called taking things out of context. Works with video clips just a good as with words. It's a well know media trick. But those are the cards we are dealt. If it wasn't Trump it would be whoever else is the biggest threat to the democrats and their minions in the media.

>> How is Trump supposed to win over Carson’s voters by calling them stupid? <<

He’s already gotten away with so much that he may now have come around actually to believe that no matter how outrageous his personal attacks might be, and no matter how much he may lack substance on some critical issues, he’ll continue to dominate the race.

Still, maybe his roaring success to date, based as it is upon his ego-driven attitude and his tons of free-media publicity, will eventually infect him with a full-blown case of hubris. That possibility suggests that if he continues to escalate his rhetorical excesses and personal insults, he may like Icarus “fly too close to the Sun” and find that his waxen wings have all melted away.

Will it happen? Maybe not. I gotta think that today, Friday the 13th, his kids and campaign manager are working him over vigorously, with the goal of preventing another questionable rant like that of last night in Iowa. Trump is obviously a very smart guy. So if he really wants the POTUS job — as opposed to being merely on a nationwide publicity tour to enhance his “brand” — maybe he’ll tone things down.
