St. Paul in Titus 1.12-13 warns Titus about the Cretans by quoting from the Cretan poet Epimenides:

"One of themselves, a prophet of their own, said, 'The Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.' This witness is true."

Since Epimenides was a Cretan, was he lying when he said that?
